I love beautiful tarot and oracle cards, so for each chapter of each novel I write, I draw a card from one of my decks and read it intuitively. For this chapter, I drew the Ace of Cups – Tarot de la Nuit Deck. See the bottom of the page for information about the novel.

Lying in Wait (Chapter 18 ), The Lost Teachings of Dead Monks
I’ve drawn the Ace of Cups from the Tarot de la Nuit deck to represent where Charlie’s head is in this chapter. And it’s with Rune.
She has been becoming more and more important to him, first as someone in dire need whom he could “save,” and now as his lover and future wife, replacing the spot that Lilah had held only days ago. Not only does this card resemble Rune, but it appeals to all his romantic fantasies that Lilah does not.
He is becoming more emotionally entrenched in his relationship with Rune and is talking himself into living that fantasy, even if a part of him questions her veracity. It’s the beginning of the romantic fantasy, and his need for what that fantasy gives him is stronger than the truth.
Law of Attraction, magical library, ancient artifact, witches and librarians. Both Lilah and Charlie try to use the Law of Attraction to get what they want but manifest their fears instead.
